Los Tres Potros is a family owned farm, managed by Carlos Mendez Flores, located in the Area of Apaneca, in the deparment of Ahuachapan.
Besides the love for the horses, Carlos has always had great admiration and love for coffee. He decided to buy the farm around the year 2001 with the clear objective of producing top quality specialty coffee. The name Tres Potros is translated as The Three Colts and refers to his three sons.
The family decided to plant Pacamara at 1,500 meters above sea level, all over the 5 hectares property. They also decided to plant the special variety: Cuscatleco (developed by PROCAFÉ in El Salvador). Because the coffee plants in the farm where very young when harvested for the first time; they started producing very good quality. They won “Exceptional quality for the world “in the year 2016, receiving a score of 91 points. They have also won other competitions thanks to the special characteristics and attributes that the Pacamara plants of the farm are distinguished for, such as creamy textures and sweet highlights ranging from chocolate to tropical fruit undertones.
